The Salmon River is our favorite Class 5 river rafting trip in Northern California. The nickname for this run is called the Cal Salmon to differentiate itself from the other Salmon River in Idaho. The Cal Salmon is in the far northern portion of California near the Lost Coast.
You can either call us or go directly to our online store and purchase your river trip now.
MEET: Oak Bottom Campground (US Forest Service) at 9:00 AM
Take I-5 North past Yreka to Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway) and follow the signs to Happy Camp and continue 36 miles to Somes Bar. After reaching Somes Bar, turn left on the Salmon River Highway towards the town of Folks of Salmon. 2.1 miles from Highway 96 is the Oak Bottom Campground. The first sign is for the access and not the campground. The campground is on the left just past the access site. Look for the W.E.T. River Trips vehicle (can't miss it; logos are everywhere!). Please be prompt. A Salmon trip requires a great deal of preparation and organization.
Note: Last chance for gas is in Somes Bar. Do not depend on filling-up after 5:00 PM or on Sundays. This is a very rural area for traveling. Come prepared for the drive.
W.E.T. River Trips assumes all Cal Salmon and Scott or Class 5 participants to be in excellent physical condition. Participants should have past experiences on Class 3 and Class 4+ rivers. If you question your abilities, please contact our office before your trip for discussion. Guides will cancel participation for anyone who is unfit or alcohol/drug impaired without any refunds.
