2008 GUIDE SCHOOL for American River Rafting w/ W.E.T. River Trips

Our Rafting Guide School program is designed for the person who is planning to be a commercial guide. We also recommend that after the Guide School, all "wanna be" guides sign up for additional certification such as Advanced First Aid, Swift Water Rescue, Wilderness Responder and more river miles. Commercial river rafting companies look favorably upon employees who have this additional training.

Talented & promising students will be asked to go into our one-on-one training program. There is no additional cost for this extra training.

We recommend all 'Weekend Only' students sign up for a minimum of three weekends. Weekend program covers the same material as the six-day sessions and is flexible for those who have regular jobs during the week.

Fees may be adjusted depending on participant's past experience. Ex: If you are a professional guide from a Class II river who is looking to upgrade your rafting skills, we may adjust your fee since you may not need the full six-day program. Please call our office for information.

We meet at the Camp Lotus location in Lotus, California, USA just 3 hours northeast of San Francisco or 2 hours southwest of Lake Tahoe.

ALL camping & meals are included during your instruction period only. International students should fly into San Francisco International. Sacramento International Airport is recommended for students traveling domestically. In California, we recommend Southwest Airlines for the least expensive plane fares. In the USA, we recommend JetBlue Airlines for inexpensive domestic flights. Arrange for a rental car or contact W.E.T. for a special airport pickup.

We require that you have a poly-fiber sleeping bag, ground cloth, pad, fleece clothing, rain gear, *wetsuit and a *tent. All equipment can be rented for an additional charge. Call or email us for details. *Rental available.

W.E.T. River Trips Guide School is not for the person who is just trying to learn how to raft. This is a school to cultivate future whitewater guides who will actually work for our company! Not every wannabe makes it, though. If you can't learn to read water or if you can't work on a team-orientated job, then you may need to look for another guide school. Our program creates professional guides who become experienced whitewater paddlers for the upcoming season. Please be aware that our senior guides will have preferential choices on when they work and on which rivers.... you newbies, will get there soon! Just focus and listen closely during your training period. If you are talented and we recognize your potential, you will be asked to participate in further training at no additional costs. In other words, you will be on our team!

We also recommend that you check out other guide schools such as all volunteer Friends of the River or your local programs in your area. For more resources on guide schools, check C-W-R.com for more info.
