OUR FEEDS!
Boogie on down to the South Fork American with W.E.T. River Trips for a rockin' time on the river. Guides are busy working hard for you. Here they are getting the dinner ready in their aloha shirts!
See, guides are closer to your age than your parents. They want to have fun. The guides are very kewl and they want you to be prepared for any rafting trip in California. Here is a bunch of tips and suggestions on how to make your trip rock and how to prepare for a California whitewater river rafting trip. So paddle forward!
Okey, so your parentals have planned a river trip for you...what are you going to wear, dude & dudette?
We love Urban Outfitters for swim suits, river shorts, vintage t-shirts. Check out the Penguin Geo Boyshort for Goils...very retro...your Mom probably has a pair in her dresser drawer! For the guys, look at the Taylor Vintage Madras...show off those legs! You guys will look awesome! Now remember in the Spring or during colder weather, you'll want to check out Altrec's website for teen wetsuits.
For the river, the best bet for your feet are just a plain ol' pair of tennis shoes. But which ones should you wear? Converse rules! See the new Chuck Taylors' for cool shoes. Also look at the re-issue converse - they are mega-cool! For hardcore rafting trips on advanced Class 4 runs, you might want to check out Keen Footwear. They are wicked ugly, but they work.
And goils, after your rafting day is over, join the dinner scene in your "new" vintage summer dress for a rocking campfire party. This vintage dress site even has vintage swimsuits! Look at circa '40's & '50's...sweeeeet!
Sooo, the threads are now set, but it's still a few weeks before your trip. How do you remain sane for the rest of this summer before the American river rafting trip? Here's more stuff to mull over...
We know you guys get bored in the summer, so before you go rafting with us; check out these fun sites to amuse yourself. We don't know why we think this is so funny, but the miniclips of W. Bush dancing is so hilarious! You can manipulate him and make him dance several different steps. Send it to your favorite Republican or Democrat!
As you can tell, we love silly stuff. Check out this weirdo teen site where you can be yourself! Also, this cartoon and comix site is awesome. Get inspired and send us your comic about the American river rafting trip!
Oh, yeh. Ya gotsta burn a CD before you come, too! Mix a little to get your heart pumping before the American River rafting trip! It's a 3 hour drive to the river and you've got the iPod in your ear...pshawww, you don't want to listen to Mom & Dad's Eagle's CD; so U mix a little retro 90's alternative with an indie groove just to celebrate the rafting adventure! Go to iTunes for easy downloads for the iPod or Yahoo!'s music for MP3 users or check out the tried and true on Rolling Stone's online music store or even Billboard's daily music news to chat about on the river. A teen's world is all about music!
And for those of you who like to sing-a-long and don't know the lyrics, first go to LyricsTrax.com and get rock, rap, country music, mp3 downloads plus music news and trivia from this favorite teen site!
Now Dudettes, we do want to chat about a personal issue with you. Ya know...the monthly "pain-in-the-you-know-what?" Anyway, your period or your menstrual cycle or whatever you want to call it; ok, dudes, this part is not for you...when rafting during menstruation, just remember a tampon works best and every first aid kit on the river has some tampons for those unplanned moments. We know about a very kool tampon (if a tampon can be cool...) called the Dittie. The Dittie is a product just for teens! They have a hilarious website of fun, style and games about the tampon. Play tampon bowling; it's a scream!
The Dittie people sent us a bunch of "samples" and we placed them into our first aid kits! The packaging is sooooo cute! The tampon is being sold at Target.
And for the extreme sports participants, go to extreme sports or the skateboard directory for hanging-by-the-fingernails kind of stuff. Visit our friends at Munkii for extreme sports clothing and attire. Check out their blog! Touch the Munkii!
Other resources here were compiled by K-dog, our extreme sports teen blogger on skateboarding information. Hey, after the rafting trip, your teens will want to check these resources out for skateboard info and buys. Check out these links:
Like most terminology it comes with the sport, in this case it's skateboarding. Tricks such as types of grabs, grinds, manuals and slides were all made up by the skateboarding revolutionaries. On everything 2 they explain basic tricks such as a kickflip or a pop shove it and move on to grinds and slides in such detail that if you put in the effort your bound to learn the tricks. As you learn more and more tricks you start to pick up the terminology as a second nature. The site gives you pretty much a basic understanding of skate terms to where you could easily hold a conversation with a skateboarder.
Do you know what a deck is? Or do you know what trucks are? No, no, no... not a patio deck or a pick up truck, but a flat wooden surface that connects a pair of trucks which attach wheels and as a whole you end up with a skateboard. Not many people understand this, but skateboarders have a lingo that would sound like another language to someone who doesn't skate.
This website offers all the common terms that someone would need to know in order to understand skateboarding. Once you know all the pieces that make up a skateboard and how to ride a board you will eventually want to learn tricks. These beginner and terminology sites can help you determine what the tricks exactly are and even how to do them. One thing that this site offers that not many do is that they give you the terminology for types of skating. Most people think skateboarding is skateboarding simple as that they have not yet realized that there is street skating, vert skating, and park skating. All 3 of these have different meanings and if you're a street skater, then you are looked at completely different from a vert skater. What you skate is what type of skater you are and that's why skateboarding is so interesting, once you get to know it.
You have a question about skateboarding and the terminology that comes along with it and dansworld is sure to be able to answer it. It's a website with a title of "skateboarding FAQ's" well lets just say they covered a lot......not only can you find out about skateboarding terms but many other answers to your questions. Don't believe me? Alright here I'll give you a few.......How much does a skateboard cost? Big or little wheels? Loose or tight trucks? What is switch stance? Now you go see for yourself if this site is worth your time to check out.

Okey, enough about the vanity stuff...when rafting in California, the thoughtful and caring teen will almost always wonder about the politics of rivers and politics in general. For those of you who are political animals, check out Amnesty International. It will get you up to speed about international politics and how it effects rivers and their communities. The animal lovers and vegetarians will love the Humane Teen. If you love and care for the defenseless, the better society is in general! Acitivism early in life = better citizens for the rest of your life!
