California rafting with W.E.T. River Trips is a rite of passage out here in the West. Youth groups enjoy rafting trips and our trips are close to major population centers such as San Francisco, San Jose, Lake Tahoe and Sacamento. All within a one hour to 3 hour distance to the meeting sites. Scouts, schools and organized youth groups are on our most popular American River whitewater. Gift Certificates for rafting are available for all of our whitewater trips!
Outdoor experiential education is a classroom method of learning to develop a skill set, to fortify knowledge and to define values in a direct and focused environment. Rafting and paddling applies those same principals when a successful and safe navigation down a whitewater river is accomplished as a team.
Youth groups from 16 to 18 yrs can sign up for our professional guide school this year. Please note that we can not hire you until you are 18 yrs old. This is an ideal program for an athletic teen who loves rivers and who is training for future employment with W.E.T River Trips. Contact the office to sign up. See the white water guide school information for calendar dates and programs. You can sign up an entire youth group for Spring Break or during the Summer months. For questions, call 1.888.723.8938. Maximum number in each session is 12 people.
Buy Rafting Guide School:
While most instruction in the lives of teens take place in a classroom, outdoor experiential learning is something that a teen will never forget. This is a hands-on classroom on the river! We apply team-building concepts to your trip. (One Day or Multiple Day trips are available.) Teens learn how to work together with several goals in mind:
Ideal rafting trips for ages 12 - 17 yrs:
WET River Trips has a long history with Scouts on several of our rivers. Boy Scouts of America have participated in many of the Klamath River packages to accomplish the popular 50-miler merit badge. Other Scouts have joined us on One Day rafting trips as a highlight for their year. Others have focused strictly on merit badges on the river:
Please consult with your troop leader and manuals to see if your merit badge can be enhanced by our rafting programs. Klamath River is recommended for 50-miler merit badge. South Fork American and Middle Fork American is recommended for other badges such as the Whitewater badge.
Recommended river trips for ages 12 - 17 yrs:
Many Youth Groups participate on our rafting trips. These are organized programs with their own counselors or facilitators. Please contact us as soon as possible as dates fill-up quickly in June and July. We recommend that you schedule your youth group during the mid-week. Rates will be lower and there are less people on the river. Both are good reasons to plan ahead for mid-week programs.
Recreational Programs and Youth Group Leaders:
Packages include one day trips, two day trips, wilderness rafting, rafting w/lodging, team-building, camping & rafting trips and more.
High-risk youth is defined by their environment. That environment may be a single parent home, drugs in their neighborhood, teen pregnancy or gangs. Recreational activities and community activism is a postive reinforcement and deterrent to at-risk youth. Taking them into a nurturing outdoor environment to challenge them and to help them work as a team, provides them with a sense of accomplishment and confidence while they navigate a whitewater river.
Counselors should be at a 1:5 ratio. Counselors should be from the high-risk program and be familar with the youth participants. Counselors must be on site the entire duration of our trips. We also recommend that you contact your local City Task Force for at-risk youth. All high-risk, at-risk groups are exclusive trips.
Central and Northern California is beautiful and lush during spring. Cooler weather and possible higher flows are for athletic youth. Summer months are ideal for end-of-school year programs. This is the best time to raft on most of our rivers including the wilderness trips. These wilderness trips offer a glimpse of what it's like to be on the river for multiple days. The Klamath River, Middle Fork American and South Fork American are ideal.
Equally popular are the youth groups that initiate team-building events on whitewater trips. Groups can have their own facilitator and we will work with your educational program to provide your needs.
